Epstein c. 1879-1946, was born in Russia, yet worked most of his life in Vienna. Contemporary publications mentioned his works alongside the likes of Max Liebermann, Lesser Ury, Josef Israels, etc. Many of his paintings were Biblical subjects in an attempt to glorify Jewish life.
